Today we are going to talk about Facebook’s Café World game. This is a game that my wife and I love to play. The game lets you run a restaurant and choose the layout, decorate it and make the food. I’ve been playing it for approximately 6 months now. During my spare time play I noticed a big problem with the program. This game although not graphically advanced takes up a lot of CPU memory and lags behind which makes it difficult to deal with.
Today I will teach a very simple way of speeding it up.
1. The first thing you want to do is open your Facebook page.
2. Once your logged in, start the café world application
3. Once the game is fully loaded, hit control-alt-delete. This should open another screen. (Windows Vista and XP
4. On this screen you need to hit the arrow pointing to Windows Task Manager. This should bring up the Task Manager Window.
5. When it opens click the processes tab and scroll down to the name of your internet browser. (Example: iexplorer.exe). If you look under the memory column you will notice the amount of memory that is being used. A lot isn’t it.
6. Now you need to highlight the iexplorer.exe line by clicking it.
7. Once this is done and the line is highlighted, right mouse click over the line. Another box will pop up.
8. You should look for the line that says set infinity and click it. Once it’s clicked another box will pop up and ask you which CPUs the process will be allowed to execute on.
9. I like to use CPU 1and uncheck CPU 0.
10. Once this is done, close out the Task Manager and look at the difference in your game.
This works every time for me and I know I have a slow Laptop. I hope this helps. By the way, once you close your browser this setting will go back to normal so it may need to be repeated.
